|Here's Fred's railway engine less than one month later, at Blair Atholl in Scotland,|
having started serice on the Perth-Inverness line, where it collected water en route, via a scoop.
Built in Brighton in 1945, rebuilt at Eastleigh in 1958 and withdrawn from service
in 1967, the final full year of Fred's diary.

7th June 1948: train-spotting
7 Mon. Very mild, fine sunny afternoon but the chilly boisterous wind still prevails. Walked along rail-path to Wimbledon in afternoon; bought fish; coming back saw the new-type Pacific loco. “Yeovil”. Gwennie and Margaret called. Mrs. and Edie Hopkins came to tea. Ciss & Edie went to the Children’s Anniversary Meeting in evening.
