22nd June 1948: What a performance!

22 Tues. Very cool, very dull, fearful skies, very heavy showers, hail, thunder and lightning, very cold wind. To Merton to buy cats meat, also bought double hollyhock seeds. Saw dear Father and Mother’s grave which looks nice. Gwennie & Margaret called; Margaret is getting interesting and amused me by her “singing” at the piano to her own accompaniment: I should hardly have thought a child of less than two years could have made such a noise.
