19th June 1948: A summer storm

19 Sat. Becoming very cool; frightful skies, very heavy thunder showers – some vivid flashes, less wind. Gwennie & Donald came in morning, they helped me shell the peas, Laurie came later. Bought fish locally. The Arterial Road is flooded. Mrs Jordan came to tea; gave her some roses.
