9th March 1948: a bloody nose... and that darn phone

9 Tues. Becoming rather warm, lovely general sunshine all day. To Mutual Stores to get cups, saucers & plates for Lily but they had sold out. Tried to get her on the phone but you can never get through to their number. Cycled to Ruxley and Chessington to see if I could buy gooseberry bushes but failed; I enjoyed the ride however as the sunshine was lovely and flowering trees have commenced the spring display. Donald called; he slipped on the shiny lino flat on his nose which spurted blood. Had to carry him home yelling. He came later with Gwennie and Laurie and was all right again. Did more covering of the new wing with white tissue.
