8th March 1948: skipping record... Fred prefers playing with planes
8 Mon. Rather mild, dull; little wind, but getting cooler. Donald called twice in morning. To Wimbledon along rail-path in afternoon. Had my sight tested at Wenban’s for a pair of reading glasses: was very interested in the optical process. Bought a writing pad and a packet of envelopes at the post office, cost 1-9d. Gwennie came to tell me she had broken her skipping record which now stands at 67: I suppose she thinks I am interested. Started covering the 41½ ins. wing.
