1st Mar 1948: re-making matresses

March 1948

1 Mon. Rather mild, dull and cloudy, not much wind. Bought fish and ‘Marchon’ firelighters locally. Met Arthur Swift. The landlord brought a replacement part for the lavatory cistern which I fitted. The Water Board inspector had complained about the overflow leaking. The Surrey Bedding Co. took away three mattresses for re-making. Divided up and planted out four more rhubarb roots. Gwennie and Margaret called. Aunt Nellie sent me a cake and a sausage roll.
