12th March 1948: new houses replacing those bombed

12 Fri. Fine, mild, sunny day. There was a fresh breeze, but a lovely day. Got all the usual Fri. morning shopping locally. Paid a visit and took some Methodist Recorders to Mrs Child who has now left Chatsworth Avenue and is living in a brand new house in Carlton Park Avenue. It is one of a row built on the site of a number of houses destroyed by a doodle-bug. I liked the house very much and is of course up-to-date. Bought cats meat and aeroplane elastic at Merton in afternoon. Dug over a bit of the garden and weeded a side-path. Made up a skin of 3/16 rubber – five strands for a motor for the spar model
