11th March 1948: stewed figs and custard – scrumptious

11 Thur. Mild, fine sunny day but not as warm as yesterday. Made up further end of centre path. Bought liver at butchers, took Donald with me. Met Mrs. Hicks she has just moved into a new flat in Bushey Road. She showed me the garden she has just planted and wants me to prune the roses when they make a start. Doped the new wing and covered the central bay with emerald tissue – looks marvellous and expect it to fly grandly. Stewed figs and made custard for tea – scrumptious.
