15 April 1942: play violin for Alan

15 Wed. Mild, brilliant sunshine without a break but still the same chill, driving onslaught of the blast - dreadful. Did shopping in morning going as far as Raynes Park Sta(tion). Alan Spooner called in afternoon; played Beethoven's Minuet in G to him on the violin; he is very fond of this; he also asked me to play Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clark. Mrs.Child called, I going there & fitting a new high-tension battery for her.

On this day: Japanese advance continuing through Burma. Allies destroying oil installations to deny them to Japanese forces. And in France, French Resistance attacks German HQ at Arras.
