Thursday 3rd July 1941: sensitive violin

Very warm; glorious sunny day, rather stiff breeze but it was welcome. Fred Fraine** called this afternoon. He played my violin and I accompanied him on the piano. He said my violin was very sensitive and more suited to the expert as it showed up every defect; it also brings out every virtue as well, in short, the more you put into it the more it responds. Did all the shopping locally.
** I believe Fred Fraine was a solicitor
