Wednesday 18th June 1941: first roses

.
Very warm, grand sunny day but rather more hazy than yesterday. The first roses out in the back garden are Betty Pritchard(?) and Walter C Clarke. Out twice in morning to the shops. Planted marrows and sowed some more onion, parsnip and lettuce seeds. Flew the 37ins model on Common in evening but did not get it in trim at the first attempt. Must try again.

Note: blog reader 'Greyfox' says: The name of the rose is Betty Uprichard. Picture here https://www.classicroses.co.uk/roses/betty-uprichard-bush-rose.html
