Saturday 21st June 1941: scorching day; early radar

Scorching hot day; sunshine up to 120 deg all day, maximum shade temperature 84: grand. Ron Coopercalled in new Standard car in afternoon. He is an Air Ministry Radio research expert. Took him to see the wireless detector station on the fields; he, of course, knows all about that. Cycled to Wimbledon to get cats' meat and to inquire about Mrs. Spooner who has had an operation but is progressing satisfactorily. Aunt Liza returned from Preston today.
