Sunday 11th May 1941: many houses down

White morning frost, cool day, but less wind; dull. Went to see the show of daffodils on dear Mother's grave. Saw a huge bomb crater on the lawn of a house in Church Path. Along line in the evening to see the locos. Also saw where many houses were down just over Dundonald level crossing. I hear six people were killed. The Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey and Westminster Hall were seriously damaged last night. Warning from 9.55 to 10.5 p.m. Night warning at 11.58 p.m. Only very distant gunfire; all clear at 3.45 a.m. on 12 Mon.
